Brought near by the Blood
Ephesians 2:13English Standard Version (ESV)
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
In this verse, we can see the author is telling us to rely on the redemptive power of the Blood of Christ who said "yes" to our coming-back again to God through his blood.
Many times in our lives, we were conditioned to earn the price of our wants. We were taught in school about the value of reviewing in order to pass the exam while in the corporate rate, later on, we would be taught to meet Sales quota in order to have higher salary. These works are valid, besides, the bible tells us that a worker is due his pay. it means that because a worker laid his energy and labor to do the job, he is rightful to receive a compensation.
But it depicts a different scenario when it comes to our relationship with God. The example above shows that the price is dependent on the labor. It means that if the worker does not do his job, he will not be paid.
faulty concept
If we apply this concept in our relationship with God, our grace will be dependent on our holy we made achieved to become. And by doing religious things such as attending church or reading the bible in the context of winning our entitlement for forgiveness and reconciliation, we have lost. We missed the point of the blood of Christ.
Our verse for today clearly tells us that we were brought near by the blood. It means that far from our first step to be right again with our Father, he actually initiated the path and resolved that his Son Jesus will become the way to reconciliation.
Correct intention
Thus, attending church and reading the bible and doing all things to know and have a firmer faith in God are the sum of our being reconciled to him by the blood of Jesus. In comparison to Old Testament's exodus, it is as if we have to be smeared in the forehead first in order to live. Had not been for the blood of Christ, we would not have this desire to make it up to God again this time.
So thank God because he gave his Son Jesus Christ in order for us to have a restored relationship with our Father.
